Environmental Leadership Program · Six-month team project

Quartz Creek Stage 0 Restoration Monitoring

Working with a team, Ginger helped monitor floodplain restoration at Quartz Creek, a tributary of the McKenzie River, and presented the findings to the McKenzie Watershed Council.

  • Collected hydrologic data at 200 GRTS points across the floodplain.
  • Analyzed spatial distribution, substrate composition, density of hydraulic conditions, thermal structure, and structural elements.
  • The team's analysis indicated that prior Stage 0 restoration was increasing floodplain functionality.
  • Fieldwork used flowmeters, quadrats, stadia rods, and thermometers in waders and difficult terrain, with fish surveys at Finn Rock Reach.

General-Interest Volunteer Program

Created a new path into campus radio for students who wanted to contribute beyond on-air roles.

Central Eugene Bike Network Awareness Proposal

A team proposal to help more people understand and use central Eugene's bicycle network, presented to the City of Eugene Transportation office.

  • Proposed a colored-line wayfinding system, paired with clear signage and color-coded bike-lane cues.
  • Developed a UMO-inspired navigation app concept to make routes more intuitive for new riders.
  • Recommended bike-network education during UO summer Introducktion, alongside community-building events.
  • Created and presented the proposal as a three-person student team; the concepts were not represented as City of Eugene implementation.
